Every move you make, Part 2
ANOTHER South Dakota native is added to the list! We'll try to learn a bit more about him and keep an eye on his work in the new administration.
And then there were 6
Six people (not spy satellites). Check out this brochure for the National Reconnaissance Office. Cool (and kind of scary) stuff.
Who Else is Who in DC (or thereabouts) from SD
Dr. Troy Meink, who is currently Principal Deputy Director for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), has been tapped to be the next United States Secretary of the Air Force, which also oversees the Space Force.
Following are excerpts from his Air Force and NRO bios.
Dr. Meink is from Lemmon, South Dakota and entered the Air Force through the ROTC program at South Dakota State University. As a rated officer in the Air Force, Dr. Meink completed 100 sorties including eight combat and 29 combat support missions in support of operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Provide Comfort. He has authored articles in professional journals, has been awarded three patents, and designed, built, and flown two experimental aircraft.
As an Air Force Civilian, he managed and directed multiple joint research and development programs and various Military Intelligence Satellite programs. His assignments have included operations and training, systems engineering, research and development, and program management of major defense acquisition programs. He was a lead test engineer for the design and evaluation of ballistic missile test vehicles for the Missile Defense Agency.
Dr. Meink left the NRO for a time when he was assigned to the Department of the Air Force as the Undersecretary of the Air Force for Space and the Director, Executive Agent for Space Staff in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Meink will be tasked to fulfill two major goals stated by President Trump: to “ensure that our nation's Air Force is the most effective and deadly force in the world, as we secure peace through strength,” and to “pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars.”
We hope to see you again.
